Licensing and Vaccinations

Eagar animal ordinances require the licensing and vaccination of all pets. Dogs are licensed for the first year, and every three years thereafter. The cost for licensing a dog is $5.00 for spayed/neutered pets, $25.00 for others. Owners with unlicensed animals may be subject to fines.

Once a year, in conjunction with a local veterinarian, the Animal Control Officer runs a rabies clinic, in which pets can be licensed, and vaccinations are offered at a reduced rate.

Residents in the Town of Eagar are allowed only four (4) dogs per residence. If a Town of Eagar resident owns, keeps, possesses, harbors or maintains more than four (4) dogs per residence they must obtain a Kennel Permit.

Education Programs

The Animal Control Officer offers public education programs that center on the proper care and treatment of pets, and the roles and responsibilities of the owner. Please contact the Police Department for information on these programs and dates.

To release a dog, Animal Control should be contacted during business hours, and the pet will be released the next day.

The owner of any dog issued a citation for Dog at large that occurred between the hours of 6:00 pm and 8:00 am will be fined twice the amount of the normal fine.

To release a dog, Animal Control should be contacted during business hours, and the pet will be released the next day.
